South African singer and songwriter Demi Lee Moore rose to fame after becoming the first winner of the TV music reality series Die Kontrak in 2018 and subsequently struck gold with her debut album Mis Eet Slaap Herhaal that same year. Her sophomore effort Country arrived the following year; a statement of artistic intent that nods to traditional country in its textures and tones. Opener "Neon Moon" perfectly encapsulates the album's rustic yet polished pop vibe. This moonlit heartbreaker has a strong sense of melancholy, high lonesome weariness to it ("When the sun goes down on my side of town / That lonesome feeling comes to my door / And the whole world turns blue") while retaining the kind of rural, country-fried energy that permeates the rest of the album. Demi Lee Moore followed her 2019 Country LP with the Afrikaans-language album Jy Ken My Naam in 2021 while the "Hart Breek" single emerged in 2023.
